RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts necessary to achieve established sales goals
• Meet or exceed established sales goals by cold calling, networking, building strong business relationships, bidding new accounts and effectively negotiating as needed
• Become actively involved in trade organizations for networking purposes to enhance sales potential
• Solicit and secure landscape maintenance and snow removal leads, referrals and bid opportunities from a prospective commercial customer base not currently under contract with Ringers Landscaping
• Develop marketing materials and proposals
• Submit bids within established cost parameters.
• Hand-deliver and formally present bids whenever possible. Follow-up on bids assuring there are no outstanding questions or information needs to facilitate decision-making and close the sale
• After closing of sale, hand off new customer to Ringers account manager passing along all information to ensure all customers goals are met
• Prepare a variety of status reports, including but not limited to closings, phone calls, presentations and follow-ups
• Perform client satisfaction check-ups at regular time intervals. Resolve any problems that may be discovered in conjunction with the applicable Account Manager
• Attend all applicable meetings which may include board meetings for sales presentations and reconciliation of complaints, association and trade organization meetings for networking purposes, etc

Prerequisite Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Local market knowledge and contacts.

• Bachelor's degree in horticulture or related field strongly preferred, but not required
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal/relationship development skills, including strong presentation, strong negotiation experience, problem-solving skills, and deal-closing instincts, and ability to influence and persuade to achieve desired outcomes
• Computer proficiency including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), contact/lead management software and internet research skills
• Self-starting high energy professional with the ability to effectively coordinate and complete numerous activities simultaneously with excellent follow-up skills
• The capacity to drive to all work sites and conduct walking tours and visual inspections of the landscape which may include areas with varying turf heights and textures, all sizes and shapes of shrubbery, bushes, flower beds, etc.
• Landscape industry background strongly preferred
• Minimum 5 years previous sales experience in business to business contract sales, preferably in the landscape industry including exposure to advertising and sales promotion techniques
• Successful sales skills including strong prospecting, business development, presentation, negotiation and closing abilities and experience
• Possess a valid state driver’s license
